Louis Vuitton Introduces New Monogram Split at Men’s Spring 2018 Runway Show

Louis Vuitton News

THE BRAND’S MEN’S DESIGNER, KIM JONES, IS AT IT AGAIN WITH NEW TAKES ON LV’S FAMOUS LOGO

When it comes to bags, I sometimes feel like I look forward to Louis Vuitton‘s men’s show more than its show for women. Don’t get me wrong—the women’s bags put out by Nicolas Ghesquiere’s team are always a seasonal highlight for me, but men’s designer Kim Jones has a particular way of melding the brand’s signatures with a particular sort of sportiness that makes everything feel fresh, casual and easy to integrate into a wardrobe.

One of my favorite things about Jones’ men’s bags has been his use of color beyond the traditional chocolate and tan of the Louis Vuitton monogram, specifically his mixtures of black, grey and various shades of blue. The brand new Louis Vuitton Monogram Split print, which Jones debuted on his Spring 2018 runway in Paris last week, is the latest in this line of experiments. As you might imagine, the inspiration for the name comes from how the print looks on the bag.

Ghesquiere has played with inverting the traditional colors of the LV monogram in his women’s bags and then using both combinations in the same piece, and here Jones is doing something similar with the Monogram Eclipse color scheme he created: the motifs are the same color in each part of the print, but the background is different, half light and half dark. It’s a lot of logo, but the sporty finishes make that feel appropriate—after all, streetwear’s influence on recent fashion has brought about a full-scale resurgence of the major logo bag. Minimalists will hate it, but Louis Vuitton has never been for them anyway.

Louis Vuitton Malletage Palm Springs PM

Travel

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

If you ask me, backpacks are here to stay, with almost every luxury brand under the sun having their very own variations, from Burberry’s adorable nylon backpacks to the ones from Prada that let you carry everything (yes, even the kitchen sink if you so wish to). Then there is this, Louis Vuitton’s take new on the ever-popular Palm Springs that now comes in quilted leather as well.

First made available in coated canvas, the new Malletage leather one is everything a true luxury bag should be, with quilted lambskin on the outside in the pattern of Louis Vuitton’s house icons, finished with gold-tone hardware that’s classy and elegant. Then there’s the padded shoulder handles, the trimmed cowhide and the additional loop at the bottom, which is actually for you to loop your scarf through when you’re out and about.

Measuring 37 cm in height by 24 cm, it’s admittedly a gorgeous bag, one that will take you from day to night, one that you can use on weekdays and weekends, and one that you’ll be using for most any occasion. Heck, even I’m interested, I just need to find out how much it costs now. BRB.

The eye-trunk was first introduced during Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2017 Collection and ever since its release; people in the fashion industry couldn’t wait to get their hands on them. Now Louis Vuitton partners with Supreme in releasing new style of Eye-Trunk Cases. But they’re not released yet, so you need to wait until they hit the stores.

Sporting Louis Vuitton’s well-famed Monogram canvas in spicy red color, this iPhone case serves more than a protective cover as it can also double as a fashionable accessory that you can bring around. Take a closer look and you will notice that the Supreme Eye Trunk Case resembles that of a traditional Louis Vuitton trunk in a smaller and trendier iPhone Case version. A coveted phone accessory piece to own this season, this Louis Vuitton iPhone case is highly anticipated with its fashion-forward style. Donning a fiery color of red that has long been associated with passion and desire, this iPhone cover is further adorned with the LV and Supreme logo in white and further accentuated with silver-tone hardware.

The Supreme Eye-Trunk is available for both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. No details yet about its price but we expect them to be:

Louis Vuitton Les Parfums VVN Leather Travel Cases

Fashion Trends

IMAGE: LOUIS VUITTON

If you’re already a fan of Louis Vuitton’s recently launched line of fragrances, Les Parfums, here’s an update that you should most definitely take note of. To complement the scents, you can now partake in a selection of Les Parfums VVN Travel Leather Cases, each made to allow your favourite scent to travel in style.

Crafted out of vachetta leather (or what LV refers to as VVN), its nature of vachetta leather also means that the cases will patina beautifully over time, picking up characteristic nuances from you the owner. Priced at SGD650 for the 100 ml case (shown above) to SGD430 for the travel case (shown below), you can, if you like, invest in the SGD19,800 VVN Flaconnier that allows you to carry 3 full-sized bottles in style.

Available now at Louis Vuitton boutiques across Singapore, you can even take these leather travel cases a step further by personalising them with your own initials to make it truly yours. The good news? The monograming personalising service is free. The bad? Travel cases are sold sans fragrances, so you’ll just have to fork out a little more to make it a complete set.
